THERE is widespread sadness in Limerick following the death of a well-known figure on the rugby scene.
Cyril Downes, who was closely involved with Old Crescent RFC, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday February 1.
Mr Downes was a former captain and president of Old Crescent RFC, and a former President of the Munster Branch of the IRFU.
He is survived by his loving Angela, daughters Aideen and Orla and sons Tiernan and Ronan and Fergal.
He will repose at his home tomorrow, Saturday from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, with removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Parteen.
His requiem mass takes place at 12.00 noon on Sunday with burial afterwards in Donoughmore Cemetery.
No flowers please, and donations if desired to the Limerick Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
