Thursday, August 27th saw the launch of creativesinlimerick.com at the Red Hen bar. This is a website with a clear goal in mind: to link the various artists of limerick in one solid place, making it easy for them to find each other, and also for outside business, too.
The website is the brainchild of Javi Buron and Magda Sanchez, two Spaniards, originally from Cordoba, who have been living in Limerick for many years. Javi teaches Architecture in the University of Limerick and also runs the Fab Lab at the top of O’Connell Street useful link. They were inspired to start the site by colaborativa.eu which is a grassroots movement across Europe designed to connect the arts.
The site is precise in its usage. All one does is add their name, email and a link to their Facebook or website, then click what category(s) best describe them and wait for the hits to come.
This author added himself under poetry, some colleagues, upon hearing of it, added themselves as actors, musicians, painters – there is a wealth of categories, and a growing number of creatives in limerick using creativesinlimerick.com.
