Update: Racing Cancelled today at Limerick Racecourse
Today’s meeting at Limerick has been cancelled after the track was found to be waterlogged following an inspection.
The decision was made after stewards and official’s inspected the course this morning.
Irish Turf Club officials will stage a precautionary inspection at 7.30am ahead of their scheduled Monday afternoon fixture.
Sunday’s meeting at the track passed without incident but officials have decided to take a look due to an adverse weather forecast.
Turf club press officer Cliff Noone said: ‘They are going to have a look but it is just down to the forecast.
‘There could be quite a bit of rain on the way but we’ll just have to see how much they get.’
If it does get the all-clear, the Adare Maiden Hurdle (1.05) gets proceedings under way and the Charlie Swan-trained Lockdown looks a leading candidate for top honours.
He shaped with considerable promise when third behind One Fine Morning on his racecourse debut at Galway last month and is entitled to have learned a great deal from the initial experience.
