LIMERICK WRITERS’ CENTRE ANNOUNCES APRIL IS POETRY MONTH 2025
LIMERICK, IRELAND – The Limerick Writers’ Centre proudly presents the return of “April is Poetry Month in Limerick” for 2025, featuring over 13 events and more than 20 performers throughout the 30 days of April.
Now in its 13th year, this celebrated festival will once again fill the historic streets and intimate venues of Limerick with poetry from local, national, and international voices. Festival Director Dominic Taylor emphasizes that “poetry, like all genuine cultural activities, must have its roots among the ‘clay and soil’ of its communities.”
Highlights include:
- Opening night at the White House Bar on April 2nd featuring Scottish poets Hugh McMillan and Julie McNeill
- Four new poetry book launches by Revival Press
- The annual Desmond O’Grady Memorial Reading on April 16th with Ron Carey, John Liddy, and Anne Fitzgerald
- Weekly online readings by Lime Square Poets
- A special tribute to Limerick poetry stalwart Tom McCarthy on April 21st
- A performative essay and poetry sequence by John W. Sexton on April 27th
Featured poets include Ron Carey, John Liddy, Hugh McMillan, Julie McNeill, John W. Sexton, Dominic Taylor, Cora Peters, Kieran Beville, Tim Cunningham, and many others.
