CALLS have been made in Limerick for a bigger spend on suicide prevention as the numbers dying by suicide far outstrip the numbers killed on our roads.
Deputy Dan Neville (FG) , a long-time campaigner for measures to prevent suicide, has said that there should be a minimum of €12 million given to the National Suicide Prevention Office, with a conservative estimate of 600 people having taken their own lives in 2011 in comparison to 186 deaths on the country’s roads.
