Tommy Frank O’Connor is a poet, novelist, story writer and dramatist living in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
His novel The Poacher’s Apprentice was published by Marino Books in 1997.
KEE KEE, CUP & TOK A Novel for Children was published by Wynkin de Worde, Easter 2004.
LOOSE HEAD, his Short Story Collection was launched at Writers’ Week, Listowel in June 2004 and his Poetry Collection Attic Warpipes will be published later in 2004.
His stories and poetry have won many awards and are widely published, including the Phoenix Anthology, Poetry Ireland, Books Ireland, The Sunday Tribune, Cork Literary Review, RTE Radio and commissions for BBC Radio 4, a Francis MacManus Award, Cecil Day Lewis and Jonathan Swift Awards, a CRANN Poetry Award and a shortlisting for the Henneessy Literary Awards.
His drama, pageants and pantomimes have been produced in Ballyseede Castle, The National Folk Theatre of Ireland and St. John’s, Listowel Square.
He has performed his work at Festivals and Venues such as:
Cúirt, Galway; Tig Filí, Cork; Fanning the Flames, Tullamore; Writers’ Week, Listowel; Kerry Arts Festival; Between the Lines, Belfast; The Bard of Armagh, The Oscar Wilde Festival; The Frank O’Connor Festival of the Short Story; The Munster Literature Centre, Díseart, Dingle, Whitehouse, Limerick, The Riverbank, Newbridge and The Irish Writers’ Centre.
He is an active member of both the Writer in Schools and Writer in Prisons schemes and is Clan File of the O’Connor Kerry Clan.
As usual the reading is preceded by an open mic session in which anyone who wishes to read is invited to do so. Complementary finger food is provided and proceeding commence at 9.00 pm.
